Park Dräi Eechelen

The parklands surrounding the museum make for beautiful walks. The park also features a range of artworks. It was landscape artist Michel Desvigne who designed and arranged it as it stands today. He was awarded the 2011 Luxembourg Architecture Prize in the landscape design category for his creative overhaul of the Dräi Eechelen Park.

Mudam’s site is close to the Musée Dräi Eechelen (interior design by Jean-Michel Wilmotte), the Philharmonie (designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc), and the Place de l’Europe designed by Ricardo Bofill. In the adjacent Quartier Européen are other buildings by famous architects, such as the Court of Justice of the European Union by Dominique Perrault, and the European Investment Bank by Christoph Ingenhoven.

The numerous works of contemporary art integrated into the Park Dräi Eechelen, together with its proximity to outstanding architecture, point up the entry to the Quartier Européen.

Ten works line the promenade for the moment, and others will be added in due course. These works were conceived specifically for the site and commissioned by partner institutions, or they are pieces from public collections obtained by Mudam, which is responsible for the artistic management of the park.

A stroll in the park can be enjoyed for itself or can be part of a visit to Mudam. Mudam now offers a group tour that starts by looking at the museum’s surroundings, focusing on the history of the site and its impact on the architecture of Ieoh Ming Pei, and then leads into a tour of the museum’s exhibitions and collection.
